The Marlin Calvary Cemetery Memorial Association held a ceremony on Tuesday, Oct. 27, honoring the new flag pole and flags flying over the home to many of Marlin’s ancestors.

Nola Fritz, a Gold and Blue Star mother, and Ricky Ward were presented with a Marlin, Texas blanket on behalf of Marlin ISD and Marlin Chamber of Commerce Members.
Each display is adorned in a different color, with each color possessing its own significance. Those with tan backgrounds passed while on duty in Iraq, while a red background signifies that the warrior died stateside during training exercises. Those with a blue background, as shown above, signify those lost to suicide to due PTSD after returning home.
In town from San Antonio to see the exhibit, visiting Marlinites John Roppolo and family took the opportunity to present the Marlin Athletic Booster Club with a Class of 1984 flag.

An opening Ceremony was held on Tuesday, Oct. 27 for the Remembering Our Fallen exhibit. Senator Brian Birdwell and House Rep. Kyle Kacal were in attendance, along with County Judge Jay Elliott, Marlin City Manager, Cedric Davis Sr., MISD Superintendent, Dr. Darryl Henson, Marlin Chamber of Commerce board members, Marlin Lions Club, and Rotary Club members.
