Homecoming

The 73nd Annual Criswell Cemetery Homecoming will be Sunday, June 9, at 11 a.m General Business Meeting, followed by Singing and Communion, 12 p.m. Lunch.

 

BACCALAUREATE

The Baccalaureate Service recognizing the Marlin High School Class of 2024 will be on Sunday, June 9, at 3 p.m. at the Marlin Missionary First Baptist Church. Cassius Johnson will be the guest speaker. Under the leadership of Pastor Vincent Hartsfield, the church is located at 507 Bennett Street. Family and friends are invited to attend to help celebrate the joyful occasion.

Breaker Rock Beach Vacation Bible School will be held June 4-6 for children have completed Pre-K through 6th grades. From 5:30-8 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 111 W Main in Rosebud.

 

HAMBURGER DRIVE THRU

Perry Ladies Society 2nd Annual Hamburger Drive Thru Supper, Saturday, June 22, 5-7 P.M. or Until Sold Out. Perry Methodist Fellowship Hall, 193 CR 127 Riesel, TX. $10 - Hamburger, Chips, Drink & Homemade Dessert.

 

BTW Alumni Parade

The BTW Annual Alumni Parade will be held in Downtown Marlin on June 29 at 10 a.m. Applications for parade entries need to be turned in no later than Friday, May 31, 2024. Entries are free.

 

BBQ CHICKEN SALE

St. Joseph Catholic Church will have a BBQ Chicken Halves & Bake Sale on June 30. Chicken halves are $8 each, pre-sale tickets only. FOOD TRUCK

Austin Food Truck will be at the First Baptist Church/Golden Years parking lot on the fourth Tuesday of the month from 10-11 a.m.

 

FOOD GIVEAWAY

Every second Tuesday of the month at 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Marlin Men’s Civic Association at 1106 N Business Highway 6.

AMERICAN LEGION

American Legion Post #31 will be meeting in a new location at the Falls County Historical Museum, 145 Heritage Row in Marlin on the second  Monday of each month at 6 p.m. They would like to remind the public of three flag disposal locations in Marlin: Judge Jay T Elliott’s Office in the Falls County Courthouse, Marlin City Hall and the Marlin Democrat News Office. MARLIN SENIOR 

CENTER

Marlin Senior Center hosts dominoes from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday; Bingo from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The Jamboree is held every third Saturday from 6-9 p.m. There is no admission fee. The building is also available for rent. The fee is $200 a day and a $100 deposit.

 

STORY TIME

Children’s Story Time returns to the Marlin Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

 

NAACP

NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Hitching Post on 5029 State Hwy 7.

 

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $20 per child. The program takes place at Marlin Elementary School. MARLIN LIONS

Lions Club of Marlin will meet every second Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. at the Chicken Place. 

 

VETERANS ASSISTANCE

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach.
