Trunk or Treat will be held at FBC Marlin on Oct. 30 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Trunk or Treat, games and frito pie. The church is located at 309 Coleman Street.

 

LOTT CHURCH 

GIVING BACK TO COMMUNITY

Lott Sacred Heart Catholic Church (213 North 6th Street) is giving back to the community on Saturday,  Nov. 2.  There will be 8 booths (approx. 20 ft. x 25 ft.) available under the pavilion for people to use for garage sales --- FREE.  It will be on a first come basis.  Electricity is not available. No selling of food or drinks will be allowed.  Restrooms are available.  The Altar Society will be having a sale in the Parish Hall that will start at 7:30 a.m.  If there are any questions, call Pam Conners  at (254) 584-2011 or Susan Michalewicz at (254) 584-5651.

 

GRIEFSHARE 

SEMINAR

A Surviving the Holidays seminar will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, 10 a.m. to noon at the First Baptist Church in Marlin.  This helpful, encouraging seminar is for people facing the holidays after a loved one’s death. It features video interviews with counselors, grief experts, and others who offer practical suggestions and reassurance. Those who attend will receive a Survival Guide booklet with practical tips, encouraging words, journaling ideas, and exercises for daily help through the holiday season.  Light refreshments will be served. COAT AND CLOTHES DRIVE

Faith, Hope and Charity’s Annual Coat and Clothes Giveaway is set for Nov. 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Old Faith, Hope and Charity, 514 Quaaid Street, Marlin. You can donate your slightly used, in good condition, clean coats and clothes until Saturday, Oct. 26, to Faith, Hope and Charity at 514 Quaid Street. FREE THANKSGIVING DINNER FOR THE ELDERLY

The 32nd annual Free Thanksgiving Dinner for the Elderly and Shut-in (age 65 and older) will be held on Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Meals will be prepared at Faith, Hope and Charity, 405 East First Street in Marlin. Volunteers are needed for delivery.

 

HOLY SMOKE BBQ

First Methodist Church Marlin’s Holy Smoke BBQ will be held on Nov. 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Drive-thru from Chambers Street at 411 Coleman in Marlin. Cost is $15 per plate for BBQ chicken half and sausage with the fixings. Homemade pies available in the pie tent.

 

A CENTURY OF GRACE

Grace Lutheran Church of Marlin (432 Houghton Avenue) will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2024. We would like to invite you to come celebrate with us on this special day. The celebration will begin with our morning worship at 11 a.m. followed by a meal and our Centennial program at 2 p.m. The Rev. Mike Neumann, President of the Texas District will be delivering our Special Anniversary Sermon. AMERICAN LEGION

American Legion Post #31 will be meeting in a new location at the Falls County Historical Museum, 145 Heritage Row in Marlin on the second  Monday of each month at 6 p.m. They would like to remind the public of three flag disposal locations in Marlin: Judge Jay T Elliott’s Office in the Falls County Courthouse, Marlin City Hall and the Marlin Democrat News Office. MARLIN SENIOR 

CENTER

Marlin Senior Center hosts dominoes from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday; Bingo from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The Jamboree is held every third Saturday from 6-9 p.m. There is no admission fee. The building is also available for rent. The fee is $200 a day and a $100 deposit.

 

STORY TIME

Children’s Story Time returns to the Marlin Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

 

NAACP

NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Hitching Post on 5029 State Hwy 7.

 

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $20 per child. Lions Club of Marlin will meet every second Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. at the Chicken Place. 

 

VETERANS ASSISTANCE

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach.
