Backpack Giveaway

Sponsored by the Marlin Texas Juneteenth Organization, Faconer Stamps Club and Sigma Phi Nursing Sorority,  over 500 backpacks filled with school supplies were available for distributed to students on Saturday, July 27, at the Lucille Williams Downtown Pavilion. As stated by Juneteenth President Hermetta Paul, “the backpacks started out with donations from family and friends but ended up with community donations and other organizations contributing to the cause and was pleased with the outcome, for it’s all about the kids.” Along with other club members, Albert Manigo, President of Falconer Stamps Club, coordinated not only the backpacks giveaway but provided hot dogs and drinks for the kids and families. Special thanks to the community volunteers who assisted with the donations and distributions.
