City of Marlin announces major water drainage system improvements

The City of Marlin, in partnership with the MRB Group and Quality Contractors LLC, is excited to announce the commencement of a significant infrastructure project aimed at improving the drainage system throughout the city. This project, identified as MRB Group Project No. 1301.18003.000, will enhance essential city services, benefiting residents and businesses alike.

The official pre-construction meeting for the project was held on Sept. 4, 2024, where stakeholders from the City of Marlin, the MRB Group, Quality Contractors LLC, and the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) came together to discuss the project’s timeline, objectives, and operational guidelines.

Key Project Details:

• Groundbreaking Ceremony: Nov. 1, at 405 First Street beginning at 10:30.

• Duration: The project is expected to reach substantial completion within 365 days, with full completion targeted at 425 days.

• Partnerships: MRB Group will oversee the project, with involvement from the Texas Water Development Board, ensuring all environmental, safety, and federal standards are met.

• Contractor: Quality Contractors LLC will manage the on-site construction, bringing expertise to ensure the project is executed efficiently and of the highest quality.

• Funding and Compliance: The project will comply with the Davis-Bacon Act wage requirements and incorporate provisions for American Iron and Steel (AIS) throughout the construction process. Additionally, environmental safeguards such as the Migratory Bird Treaty Act and the Endangered Species Act will be strictly observed.

• Project Goal: This project aims to improve Marlin’s drainage systems, contributing to the long-term health and well-being of the community.

In alignment with TWDB regulations, the City of Marlin will launch a public awareness campaign to keep residents informed about the project’s progress, including road closures, construction zones, and any other relevant updates.
