Grand Reopening
The Falls County Historical Commission celebrated a Christmas Grand Reopening on Thursday, Dec. 12. The festivities featured a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony marking the official reopening of this cherished local landmark. The event offered an opportunity to explore the museum’s rich collection of historical artifacts, celebrate the spirit of the season, and learn more about the vibrant history of Falls County. Located in the heart of Marlin, the Falls County Historical Museum serves as a repository of the county’s diverse history. The Museum was built in 1983 with funds from the Citizens of Falls County. The museum has survived a tornado, and a major hailstorm both of which created major water damage throughout the space. During the renovation from the tornado and hailstorm, another tornado occurred as well as a building fire nearby which caused additional damage to the Museum. The Falls County Historical Museum Commission should be commended for its tenacity in sticking with the renovation project under some difficult circumstances. The museum features exhibits that highlight significant cultural, social, and economic contributions that have shaped the region.
