Head-on collision on two lane highway
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to a crash in Falls County at approximately 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12.
The collision occurred on SH 7 just west of CR 446 and northwest of Chilton.
It is believed that a red Dodge Ram was travelling eastbound and attempted to pass another vehicle, but impacted head-on with a white Dodge Ram travelling in the opposite direction, according to the preliminary investigation.
The driver of the red vehicle was entrapped there. Once extracted, both drivers were transported to Baylor Scott and White in Waco. Both drivers were in critical condition at the time, but have since been pronounced stable.
The investigation into this accident is still active and ongoing, but DPS encourages drivers to ensure they can pass safely when passing another vehicle on a two-lane road.
“This includes giving yourself time to get back in your correct lane before oncoming traffic arrives,” said Sergeant Ryan Howard, with DPS. “When in doubt, do not pass.”
