Humphrey-Lynn Scholarship Banquet planned
The 30th Annual Humphrey-Lynn Scholarship Banquet is on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, at 7 p.m. The event will be at the Waco Convention Center-Brazos Ballroom South in Waco.
A memorial, recollections and Princess crowning will be highlighted. The guest speaker is Dr. Richard J. Rose of the Holy Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, Houston.
The Humphrey-Lynn Scholarship Banquet ministry commenced in January 1995, in memory of Clodie Humphrey and Zona Mae Lynn. These two ladies, who worked for God, were victims of a lone gunman at the infamous Luby’s Cafeteria (now closed) in Killeen, TX on Boss’ Day, Oct. 16, 1991. The two women from Marlin went to lunch after the morning session of the October Board Meeting of the Good Hope Western General Association that was hosted by the Simmonsville Missionary Baptist Church of Killeen.
The late Humphrey and Lynn served faithfully with the district as secretaries with the Church Training Union, Sunday Church School and Youth Congress for more than twenty years. Deserving high school graduates of active churches within the Good Hope Western General Association receive assistance from the scholarship fund that was established in memory of the late Clodine Humphrey and Zona Mae Lynn.
To continue the Humphrey-Lynn Scholarship Ministry, donations may be made to the Association. For more information, contact Valerie Willis at (254) 733-4197 or Ramona Clark at (254) 543-2225. Pastor T. E. Malone is the Moderator of the Association and Pastor Nika Davis, Vice-President.
