Marlin holds groundbreaking for drainage project
The City of Marlin, in partnership with the MRB Group and Quality Contractors LLC, held a groundbreaking for an infrastructure project aimed at improving the drainage system throughout the city. This project, identified as MRB Group Project No. 1301.18003.000, will enhance essential city services, benefiting residents and businesses alike. The official pre-construction meeting for the project was held on Sept. 4, where stakeholders from the City of Marlin, the MRB Group, Quality Contractors LLC, and the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) came together to discuss the project’s timeline, objectives, and operational guidelines. Above, community dignitaries break ground. At right top, gifts of appreciation were presented to former Marlin City Councilman Scottie Henderson for his work on getting the funding for a new water drainage system for Marlin which took years of planning and work. Former City Councilwoman Billie Jean Scaggs (unable to attend) was also honored for her work. The theme of the ceremony was “Longtime Coming” based on the 1963 Pop/R&B hit by Sam Cook, “A Change Is Gonna Come.”
