Old Settlers & Veterans Open House at Tomlinson Hill
More than 100 people attended the open house honoring veterans hosted by the Old Settlers & Veterans Association of Falls County on Saturday, November 12. This was the first public event hosted by the non-profit association in many years and the first for the new board of directors since beginning restoration of the grounds and structures last year. After a year of cleanup and repairs at the Texas historical site, the event was held to thank veterans for their service.
The American Legion, Falls County Post, conducted a flag raising ceremony. Commander Mike Estep delivered the invocation.The national anthem was sung by veteran, James Bozeman. Gail Wideman Palmore, Executive Director of Old Settlers & Veteran’s provided a welcome address and a history of the association and of the early settlers along the Falls on the Brazos.
