Orr appointed chair of appropriations subcommittee that oversees Health and Human Services
Austin, TX - The Chairman of the Texas House Appropriations Committee has announced the subcommittee assignments for the 89th Legislative session. These appointments enable a more detailed examination of specific articles or sections of the state budget under the Appropriations Committee’s authority. In her second legislative session in the Texas House of Representatives, Rep. Angelia Orr has been appointed by Chairman Bonnen, M.D., to serve as the new chair for the Article II Subcommittee on Health and Human Services.
“This is a tremendous opportunity to serve the people of District 13 and all of Texas by overseeing the allocation of approximately one-third of our state’s budget,” said Orr. “During my time in this position, I will ensure that not a single tax dollar is spent on abortion, transgender surgeries, or DEI initiatives. Among other things, I will support local first responders, work to prevent opioid abuse, assist victims of human trafficking, and protect children from abuse. I am particularly eager to address the challenges facing rural hospitals, especially regarding labor and delivery care shortages. Together with my colleagues on the subcommittee, we will eliminate waste and ensure that conservative priorities are funded.”
“With the much-needed reforms initiated by President Trump, we have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to effect meaningful change at both the federal and state levels. It is time to Make Texas Healthy Again,” said Orr.
Rep. Orr is currently serving in her second term as State Representative. House District 13 includes Bosque, Falls, Freestone, Hill, Leon, and Limestone Counties and a portion of McLennan County.
