Roe announces candidacy for Marlin ISD School Board District 2

My name is Will Roe, and I’m excited to announce my candidacy for the Marlin ISD School Board District 2 seat in the upcoming May 3 election.

Though I didn’t grow up in Marlin, this town has become my home. Raised in McLennan County, I understand the challenges of growing up with limited resources. As a young child, I faced hardships such as the incarceration of a parent, periods of homelessness, and began working at the age of 12.

When times were most challenging, some of my only meals were those provided by the school district, but I remained focused on my education, taking full advantage of every opportunity available to me. I participated in UIL, FFA, Student Council, and athletics, finding support in both the classroom and extracurricular activities that helped shape my future. I made a promise to myself that if I ever broke the cycle of poverty, I would dedicate myself to giving back to others - a commitment that drives me to this day.

After graduating from Texas A&M University, I worked in facilities and operations management with Texas A&M Athletics and the US Olympic Committee before transitioning into the construction and telecommunications industries.

These roles taught me how to manage resources, collaborate with diverse teams, and find creative solutions to complex problems - skills I’ll apply to managing our school district and ensuring our children receive the education they deserve.

When I met Alexis, the love of my life and a lifelong Marlin resident, I knew this was where I wanted to build my future. Together, we’ve made Marlin our home, raising our two boys surrounded by the love and support of family and friends. I’m grateful for the warmth of this community and am committed to giving back.

Within the City of Marlin, I currently serve as a member of the Marlin Men’s Civic Association, on the city’s Charter Commission, and most recently I was elected Secretary of the Marlin 4B Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors for 2025.

These experiences have shown me the potential we have as a community, with our children at the heart of it all. We must invest in them, providing the resources, support, and opportunities they need to become the next generation of leaders, entrepreneurs, and educators.

That’s why I’m running for the Marlin ISD School Board. As a trustee, I’ll bring leadership, practical experience in budgeting and collaboration, and a dedication to ensuring our district’s resources are used effectively. I’ll work to improve our schools, expand career training opportunities, address mental health challenges, and ensure every parent and teacher feels valued and supported.

To give you a chance to meet me personally, Alexis and I will be hosting a meet and greet in the coming weeks at our home on Ward St. I want to hear from you, understand your concerns, and share my vision for Marlin ISD.

I invite anyone who shares this vision to join me - whether by volunteering, offering ideas, or simply showing support. Together, we can ensure Marlin ISD becomes a place where all children thrive, our educators are empowered, and our community stands united.

Thank you for considering me as your next school board trustee. I look forward to meeting you and working together to build a brighter future for our students.

Respectfully,

Will Roe

Candidate for Marlin ISD School Board

District 2
