Rotarians collect food and funds for the hungry of Falls County

Shoppers at H.E.B. Marlin and surrounding markets showed their generosity as Rotary Club volunteers collected their donations of food for the Falls County Samaritan House in Marlin.

Shoppers on Nov. 22, 2024,  bought food items of canned meats, flour, sugar, cereals, grains, and canned vegetables, soups, and fruits, filling carts with thousands of pounds of these foods. They also donated thousands in dollars in cash and checks that, in turn, will be used to purchase more food. Through the Central Texas Food Bank, the Falls County Samaritan House can multiply the purchase power of a dollar into pounds of food and multiple meals, including fresh meat and produce. These donations make possible the distribution of food to those throughout Falls County who need food for themselves and their families.

Thank you to all who donated food and money so that others could benefit. Your donations provide better health by curing hunger.

There was a lot of excitement at the Food for Families day-long event, one of the year’s favorite events. There, numerous private citizens and members of organizations sorted and boxed thousands of pounds of food items, which together with tallied cash and check donations, were provided to Falls County Samaritan House, Marlin.

Rotarians work for disease prevention and maternal and child health, amongst five additional areas of focus.

Rotarian Jay Elliott served as spokesperson to KWTX Central Texas News.
