UM ARMY to bring life-changing service to Marlin
United in Mission Action Reach-out Mission by Youth (U.M. ARMY), a Christ-centered organization dedicated to empowering youth through service, is thrilled to announce its Service Week in Marlin from June 15-21.
During this transformative week, high school youth and adult supervisors will provide critical home repairs and improvements for low-income, elderly, handicapped, and disadvantaged individuals and families—all at no cost to the clients.
“Our mission is to provide quality, Christ-centered youth work camps that promote spiritual growth, leadership development, and service to those in need,” said Rick Smith, organizer of the event. “We’re excited to bring these services to Marlin and make a meaningful impact on the community.”
Services Offered
U.M. ARMY volunteers will focus on projects that improve safety, mobility, and quality of life, including:
• Wheelchair ramps and handicap handrails
• Porch, stairs, and siding replacement and repairs
• Flooring overlays and minor roofing
• Interior and exterior painting (up to two stories)
• Cabinet, door, and screen repairs
• General property cleaning and trash hauling
Priority: Client safety and structural integrity are prioritized, with cosmetic improvements addressed as time allows.
How It Works
1. Client Selection: U.M. ARMY is currently seeking potential clients who meet the criteria. Individuals must own their homes, and their needs must align with the services offered.
2. Pre-Site Inspections: Beginning June 1, 2025, U.M. ARMY will evaluate 50 homes in the area and select approximately 30 to receive services.
3. On-Site Work: Each project will be completed by a team of 4–5 high school youth and 1–2 adults, with all work supervised by experienced adult leaders.
Qualifications and
Exclusions
U.M. ARMY does not perform work requiring licensed professionals, such as plumbing or electrical repairs, nor do they build room additions or level homes. However, their efforts are designed to address urgent safety and mobility concerns and make a lasting difference for those in need.
