Saturday storm claims courthouse oak tree

It’s not what you would expect to see when you look at the beautiful grounds of the Falls County Courthouse. A Live Oak tree split in half like a toothpick after a storm on Saturday left in it’s wake a reminder of the power of the wind. It has been heavily debated, did the tree have a bit of rot set in around the trunk that played a part in the destruction? Only wind speeds of 30 miles per hour were reported for Saturday, but that was enough to take out the majestic oak.
