Sheriff for Interim Police Chief

At least on a temporary basis, the Marlin City Council members have voted to appoint Falls County Sheriff Ricky Scaman and the Interim Marlin Police Chief, with Chief Deputy Derick Johnson serving as Assistant Police Chief.

The arrangement was recommended by Sherrif Scaman, and will only be on a temporary basis of about six months, hopefully giving city council enough time to find a permanent replacement for current Police Chief Michael Pesses.

The decision to appoint Sheriff Scaman and Chief Deputy Johnson as Police Chief and Assistant Police Chief was awaiting legal approval, but according to Mayor John Keefer, Scaman would receive $2,080 per month in his new role, while Johnson would receive up to $1,200 per month, Scaman and Johnson will also receive an office to work out of, however, no set hours for either will be set.
