FALLS COUNTY FELONY DOCKET
On January 27, 2022, Judge Bryan F. Russ, Jr. convened court to hear felony matters presented by District Attorney Jody Gilliam. The following felony cases were disposed of:
2nd Degree Felony (2 to 20 years, up to $10,000.00 fine.)
Juan Marquez, 30, from Chilton, pled guilty aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury. He was sentenced to 7 years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice System, assessed a $2,000.00 fine. Marquez was arrested on August 8, 2021, by Falls County Sheriff’s Office.

Kelvin Len Turner, 26, from Waco, pled guilty to possession of controlled substance, methamphetamine four grams or more but less than 200 grams. He was placed on 10 years deferred probation, assessed a $2,000.00 fine. Turner was arrested on May 23, 2021, by Lott Police Department.
3rd Degree Felony (2 to 10 years, up to $10,000.00 fine.)
Juan Marquez, 30, from Chilton, pled guilty to continuous violence against the family. He was sentenced to 5 years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice System. Marquez was arrested on August 8, 2021, by Falls County Sheriff’s Office.
Jessica Ann Gartin, 35, from Waco, pled guilty to bail jumping. She was sentenced to 2 years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice System. Her sentence was suspended, and he was placed on 5 years probation. Gartin was arrested on May 25, 2021, by Lott Police Department.
Orlon Simpson, 41, from Marlin, pled guilty to assault family/household member with previous convictions. He was placed on 5 years deferred probation, assessed a $1,500.00 fine. Simpson was arrested on August 5, 2021, by Marlin Police Department.
State Jail Felony (6 to 24 months, up to $10,000.00 fine.)
Michael Andrew Sowder, 50, from College Station, pled guilty to possession of controlled substance, methamphetamine less than one gram. He was placed on 3 years deferred probation, assessed a $1,500.00 fine. Sowder was arrested on July 19, 2020, by Marlin Police Department.
Vanesza Lasha Latson, 26, from Cleburne, pled guilty to possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, less than one gram. She was placed on 3 years deferred probation, assessed a $1,500.00 fine. Latson was arrested on May 8, 2021, by Lott Police Department.
Jessica Ann Gartin, 35, from Waco, pled guilty to possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, less than one gram. She was sentenced to 2 years confinement in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice System. Her sentence was suspended, and he was placed on 5 years probation.
