Bulldogs defeat Groesbeck
The Marlin Bulldogs football team traveled to take on the Groesbeck Goats on Friday. Marlin was victorious, winning 20-13.
The first half was a war of defenses as both teams went into the second half scoreless. Marlin scored the only points in the third quarter with a 63-yard touchdown pass from Roderick Suiters to Jordan Womack for a 6-0 lead after a missed extra point. The Bulldogs increased their lead to 12-0 in the fourth quarter with a 2-yard touchdown run from Roderick Suiters.
The Goats responded with 13 unanswered points on a 1-yard touchdown run and a 43-yard touchdown pass to take a 13-12 lead. Marlin answered with a clutch 49- yard touchdown pass from Roderick Suiters to Jordan Womack to take a 20-13 lead following a successful two point conversion to help Marlin win the game.
Roderick Suiters had an incredible game, throwing for over 100 yards and two touchdowns along with rushing for 28 yards and a touchdown. Mario Hopwood also played great, rushing for 74 yards. Jordan Womack was unstoppable, catching three passes for 119 yards and two touchdowns, along with rushing for 31 yards.
Marlin will not be playing next week as it will be their bye week. Up next, the Bulldogs will host the Bosqueville Bulldogs. The game will be on Friday and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
