Bulldogs shut out Cougars, remain undefeated in district
The Marlin Bulldogs football team traveled to take on the Rosebud-Lott Cougars on Friday, Oct. 20. Marlin shut out the Cougars, winning 34-0.
The Bulldogs were in complete control of the entire first half, entering halftime with a commanding 27-0 lead. Marlin was stumped on offense in the second half, their only points of the second half came in the fourth quarter from a 19-yard touchdown run by De’Angelo Wright. However, the Marlin defense continued the shutout in the second half to win the game in convincing fashion 34-0 and remain undefeated in district.
Roderick Suiters had a great game, throwing for 111 yards on seven completions. Ja’Marien Womack was fantastic, rushing for 68 yards and a touchdown. Mario Hopwood was outstanding, rushing for 170 yards and three touchdowns. The Marlin defense was relentless the whole game. Along with giving up zero points, they had an interception, a fumble, allowed only three third down conversions, and just 60 yards of total offense.
With this win, Marlin has a record of 7-2 and a perfect district record of 6-0.
Up next, the Bulldogs will host the Valley Mills Eagles for their regular season finale. The game will be on Friday, Nov. 3, and kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
