Chilton keeps season alive with win over Falls City
The Chilton Pirates football team traveled to Bob Shelton Stadium in Buda on
Friday, Dec. 1, for the Quarterfinals. They took on the Falls City Beavers and were victorious, obliterating them 53-7 to advance and keep their season alive.
The Pirates started the game red hot and never looked back, shutting out Falls City 46-0 in the first half. The second half was more even with both teams scoring just seven points in the second half. That was all Chilton needed to get the win over the Beavers 53-7.
Isaiah Redd was simply unstoppable, throwing for 456 yards and four touchdowns along with rushing for 78 yards and two touchdowns. Dha’Corian Evans was phenomenal, rushing for 143 yards and two touchdowns.
The three receivers (Markeydrick Taylor, Tyler Jones, and Isaac Redd) played like men possessed. Taylor caught three passes for 125 yards, Jones caught five passes for 216 yards, and Isaac Redd caught four passes for 115 yards and they combined for four touchdowns. The defense was impenetrable, allowing just seven points, 35 passing yards, and forced three fumbles.
Up next for Chilton will be the Mart Panthers in the semifinals for a chance to make their first state championship appearance since 2006. The game will be on Friday, Dec. 8, at Crusader Stadium at Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton and kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
