Marlin PD warning of phone scam

The Marlin Police Department is raising awareness of a new phone scam making its rounds.

According to the PD, scammers are calling citizens and claiming they are from the Marlin Police Department, and also advising their identity has been stolen. They are spoofing the department’s phone number, and caller ID will show up as Marlin Police Department.

If you receive this phone call, you are advised to hang up and call the real Marlin Police Department at (254) 883-9255. The department says it will never ask you for money.
