OUTREACH

Impacting lives together, the Nehemiah Community Outreach mission is sharing the love of Jesus Christ. Volunteer service, community sales and financial donations are ways in which the ministry is supportive to the local community. Offering back to school celebrations & giveaways (TBA), young readers book & art club, youth biblical skills for success and Christmas Giving are additional supports for the community. The outreach program will serve Marlin on the third Saturday, July 20, at 11 a.m. at the Lucille Williams Pavilion. FAITH, HOPE & 

CHARITY

Faith, Hope & Charity registration will be held on July 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and July 23 from 2-6 p.m. at 405 East First Street in Marlin. Grades Kindergarten to 5th grade. Each class will consist of three students. All students must be present during registration and all applications will be done at FHC. All parents are obligated to volunteer six hours each month. BLOOD DRIVE

Vacation bible school

First Methodist Church, 411 Coleman Street in Marlin, will hold Vacation Bible School on July 30, 31, and Aug. 1, from 5:30-8 p.m. Light meal served. Presented by First United Methodist Marlin in association with First Baptist Church-Marlin.

 

gospel bluegrass sunday morning

First Methodist Church Marlin will hold a Gospel Bluegrass Sunday Morning on July 28 at 11 a.m. Lunch at 12 p.m. in Fellowship Hall with concert at 1 p.m. The church is located at 411 Coleman Street in Marlin.

VBS

FBC Marlin is holding its annual VBS this year, with the First Methodist Church of Marlin July 30 to Aug. 1. It will be held this year at the First Methodist Church (411 Coleman Street in Marlin) each night from 5:30-8 p.m. There will be a free meal each night, and it will be a great time for kids in our community from PK-5th grade to come and connect with each other and God.

 

Barbecue plates

Grace Lutheran Church in Marlin will hold its 42nd annual Barbecue on Saturday, Aug. 3, from 4:30-6 p.m. at the MMCA Building. Brisket plates for $18 donation including all the trimmings. Eat in or drive thru. Baked goods available. MMCA Building is located at 1104 N. Hwy. Bus. 6 in Marlin. 

 

back to school prayer walk

The 19th Annual Back to School Prayer Walk will be on Saturday, Aug.  3, at 7 a.m. Participants are asked to meet at the Marlin Middle School parking lot. ARC coalition

The Falls County Access, Resources and Communication (ARC) Coalition will meet on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at noon at The Chicken Place in Marlin. Call 254-988-7146 for more information.

 

MCT Performance

Milam Community Theater will bring Charles Schulz’s beloved comic to life this summer with Clark Gesner’s classic musical, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” The classic musical will be on stage at the Williams Event Center in Cameron July 27, 28, and Aug. 3 and 4, with additional shows at the Kay Theater in Rockdale, Aug. 10 and 11. Tickets are on sale now for the Cameron performances on the MCT website, MilamCommunityTheater.com. Tickets for the Rockdale shows are available at thekaytheater.com.

Austin Food Truck will be at the First Baptist Church/Golden Years parking lot on the fourth Tuesday of the month from 10-11 a.m.

 

FOOD GIVEAWAY

Every second Tuesday of the month at 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Marlin Men’s Civic Association at 1106 N Business Highway 6.

 

AMERICAN LEGION

American Legion Post #31 will be meeting in a new location at the Falls County Historical Museum, 145 Heritage Row in Marlin on the second  Monday of each month at 6 p.m. They would like to remind the public of three flag disposal locations in Marlin: Judge Jay T Elliott’s Office in the Falls County Courthouse, Marlin City Hall and the Marlin Democrat News Office. MARLIN SENIOR 

CENTER

Marlin Senior Center hosts dominoes from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday; Bingo from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The Jamboree is held every third Saturday from 6-9 p.m. There is no admission fee. The building is also available for rent. The fee is $200 a day and a $100 deposit.

 

STORY TIME

Children’s Story Time returns to the Marlin Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

 

 

NAACP

NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Hitching Post on 5029 State Hwy 7.

 

AFTER SCHOOL 

PROGRAM

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $20 per child. The program takes place at Marlin Elementary School. ASSISTANCE

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach.
