back to school prayer walk

The 19th Annual Back to School Prayer Walk will be on Saturday, Aug.  3, at 7 a.m. Participants are asked to meet at the Marlin Middle School parking lot. ROSEBUD-LOTT 50+ REUNION

The 2nd Annual Rosebud-Lott High School Reunion 50+ recognizing all alumni from 1971, 1972, 1973 & 1974 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church Center in Rosebud on Saturday, Aug. 3, Sign in begins at 1 p.m. Introductions will begin at 2 p.m. with the meal to follow. We will be celebrating the Class of 1974 this year.

MEN’S DAY

Marlin Missionary Baptist Church and Rev. Vincent Hartsfield, pastor, will celebrate its upcoming Men’s Day with a Men’s Day Breakfast on Saturday, Aug. 10, at 8 a.m. Workshop speaker will be Pastor Arthur Sneed. The Men’s Day Annual will follow on Sunday, Aug. 11, at 10 a.m. in the fellowship hall with Pastor Joe Scaggs and the True Vine Baptist Church family. CHILTON FAMILY HEALTH EXPO

2nd Annual Chilton Family Health and Back To School Expo will be held on Aug. 17, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Chilton ISD, 905 Durango Ave., Chilton.

FUNDRAISER CONCERT

Bremond Chamber of Commerce will host a fundraiser concert and dance with music by The Risky Liver Band on Aug. 31. There will also be a silent auction. Further details will be announced.

AMERICAN LEGION

American Legion Post #31 will be meeting in a new location at the Falls County Historical Museum, 145 Heritage Row in Marlin on the second  Monday of each month at 6 p.m. They would like to remind the public of three flag disposal locations in Marlin: Judge Jay T Elliott’s Office in the Falls County Courthouse, Marlin City Hall and the Marlin Democrat News Office. MARLIN SENIOR CENTER

Marlin Senior Center hosts dominoes from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday; Bingo from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The Jamboree is held every third Saturday from 6-9 p.m. There is no admission fee. The building is also available for rent. The fee is $200 a day and a $100 deposit.

Children’s Story Time returns to the Marlin Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

NAACP

NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Hitching Post on 5029 State Hwy 7.

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $20 per child. The program takes place at Marlin Elementary School.
