Head Start Reading

Deborah Wesson from the Waco Economic Opportunities Advancement Corporation (EOAC)  Central Office came to the Marlin EOAC Head Start/Early Head Start Site to read “Piper Chen Sings” to the children there on Thursday morning. The book is about a little girl named Piper. She loves singing to her stuffed animals, her dogs and the birds outside. Her teacher asked her to sing a solo at a Spring Event. She says she has butterflies and becomes discouraged. Her friend tells her that butterflies visit when something exciting is going to happen. Piper is told that Hudie is a Chinese word for butterflies. When it is time for Piper to sing, she feels the butterflies up and out into the world. This teaches our children that they can accomplish anything.
