Bulldogs continue to win

The Marlin Bulldogs basketball team finished their in-season tournament hosted by China Spring during the weekend of Dec. 27-28 with a 50-40 win against Manor New Tech. 

Marlin finished the tournament with a record of 2-2. 

The Bulldogs returned home to host the Riesel Indians for their district opener on Tuesday, New Years Eve. Marlin obliterated the Indians, winning 91-39.

Tyruan Bell had a solid game with three points, six rebounds, two assists, a steal, and a block. Aarik Smith-Shelley was great with nine points, seven rebounds, four assists, two steals, and two blocks. Jordan Womack was fantastic, recording 15 points, six rebounds, two assists, four steals, and two blocks. Jaidan Womack was outstanding, recording 21 points, three rebounds, seven assists, and four steals. 

The Bulldogs traveled to take on the Axtell Longhorns on Friday, Jan. 3. Marlin soundly defeated Axtell 78-31. 

With this victory, Marlin now has a record of 10-4 and a district record of 2-0. 

After playing the Chilton Pirates at home on Tuesday, the Bulldogs will travel to take on the Mart Panthers. The game will be on Friday, Jan. 10, and tip off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
