WESTPHALIA KC FISH FRY

Westphalia Knights of Columbus Council #13902 will sponsor a drive-thru Shrimp & Fish Fry every Friday evening beginning March 7 through April 11. Plates will be “to go only” starting at 3:30-7:15 p.m. (or until sold out).  Plates will consist of fried shrimp, fried fish, beans,  slaw and french fries.  Cost will be $15 per plate.  Plates can be picked up in a drive-thru lane behind the Westphalia Parish Hall, 3000 State Highway 320, Westphalia. Proceeds support the KC’s charity goals for the year.

 

CHRIST IN THE 

PASSOVER

Christ in the Passover: An Interactive Experience is set for Friday, April 11, at 6 p.m., FBC Marlin will be hosting “Christ in the Passover: An Interactive Experience.” This powerful, interactive experience, led by Daniel Borok of Jews for Jesus, will illustrate the link between the Jewish feast of Passover and the last supper Jesus shared with His disciples. We will have a potluck meal at 6 and the presentation will start promptly at 6:30. Jewish or not, religious or not—all are welcome for this unforgettable, thought-provoking experience. JUDE JUBILEE

The Third Annual Jude Jubilee will be held on April 12 at Greater Jude Tabernacle from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Food, games and family fun. EASTER EGG HUNT

The Lott Queen of the Prairie Civic Club will host the annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19, at 10 a.m. at the downtown pavilion.

 

VOTER REGISTRATON

Voter Registration empowered by Citizens Empowerment Project will be held every third Saturday at 3 p.m. at Pauline and Jane Chilton Library, 400 Oaks Street in Marlin.

 

EASTER EGG HUNT

A Community Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Saturday April 19, at 10 a.m. will be hosting a community Easter Egg Hunt at the FBC Marlin located at 309 Coleman St. in Marlin. We will have 3 age divided sections for kids to Hunt, and there will be one large prize giving each section for the person that finds the “Prize” egg. Have questions? SUNRISE SERVICE

Sunday, April 20, at 7 a.m. FBC Marlin will host a community Sunrise service at the Lucille Williams Pavilion. This will be a interfaith worship service to celebrate our Risen Savior.

 

NO MAN LEFT BEHIND

Greater Jude Tabernacle will host No Man Left Behind a Men’s Breakfast Summit on May 24 at 10 a.m. Enter free, $8 donation for breakfast. MEALS ON WHEELS GOLINDA

The City of Golinda is excited as the Meals on Wheels Waco will service its area. Everyone is invited to the Golinda Senior Activities Center, 7039 Golinda Drive, every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at the Golinda City Hall, starting Jan. 28, 2025. GRIEFSHARE 

SEMINAR

GriefShare, a special help seminar and support group for people experiencing grief over the loss of a loved one, will be held on Saturday mornings, 10 a.m. to noon, Feb. 1 to May 3, 2025, at the First Baptist Church, 309 Coleman Street, in Marlin. GriefShare features nationally recognized experts via video on grief recovery topics.  Participants can jump in at any session. A registration fee of $20 covers the cost of the workbook. AMERICAN LEGION

American Legion Post #31 will be meeting in a new location at the Falls County Historical Museum, 145 Heritage Row in Marlin on the second  Monday of each month at 6 p.m. They would like to remind the public of three flag disposal locations in Marlin: Judge Jay T Elliott’s Office in the Falls County Courthouse, Marlin City Hall and the Marlin Democrat News Office. MARLIN SENIOR CENTER

Marlin Senior Center hosts dominoes from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday and Thursday; Bingo from 9 a.m. to noon on Wednesday. The Jamboree is held every third Saturday from 6-9 p.m. There is no admission fee. The building is also available for rent. The fee is $200 a day and a $100 deposit.

 

STORY TIME

Children’s Story Time returns to the Marlin Library on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m.

 

NAACP

NAACP will meet every fourth Thursday of the month at 6 p.m. at the Hitching Post on 5029 State Hwy 7.

 

AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

The Boys & Girls Club of Falls County has an after school program that offers things such as homework help, health and life skills, and individual tutoring. It is $20 per child. Lions Club of Marlin will meet every second Tuesday of each month at 12 p.m. at the Chicken Place.

Caritas of Waco Inc. will be in Marlin every first and third Monday of the month as part of their Veterans Case Management Program: Assistance For Veterans / Outreach.
