Bulldogs blank Bosqueville in district opener
The Marlin Bulldogs shut out Bosqueville 41-0 to start district play on Friday night.
The shut out was the their first win of the season.
The scoring started in the first quarter when Desmond Woodson threw a 27-yard touchdown pass to Jeoffrey Mims for a 7-0 lead.
Marlin extended the lead with a 27-yard touchdown pass from Woodson to Zha’Mauryon Lofton to make it a 14-0 lead. Marlin added on with an 8-yard touchdown pass from Woodson to Lofton for a 21-0 lead at halftime.
Marlin began the scoring in the second half with a 3-yard touchdown run by Lofton for a 28-0 lead. The lead was increased when Mario Hopwood scored on a 54-yard touchdown run to make the score 35-0. The final score of the game came on a 1-yard touchdown run by Lofton for a final score of 41-0 after the missed extra point.
Desmond Woodson played a great game, throwing for 173 yards and three touchdowns, along with 116 rushing yards as well. Mario Hopwood played fantastic, rushing for 148 yards and a touchdown. Zha’Mauryon Lofton was unstoppable with 78 receiving yards and two touchdowns, along with 34 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
The next matchup for the Marlin will be at home as they host the Moody Bearcats for Homecoming night. The game will be on Friday and is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
