Bulldogs get victory over Hearne 33-13
The Marlin Bulldogs football team traveled to Waco to take on the Hearne Eagles on Sept. 13. Marlin handily defeated Hearne 33-13.
Marlin scored the lone points in the first quarter with a 5-yard touchdown run by De’angelo Wright for a 7-0 lead. Hearne answered to start the second quarter with a pick six to tie the game at 7.
Marlin responded with 14 unanswered points to go into halftime leading 21-7. Those points were scored on a 5-yard touchdown run by Ty’raun Bell and a 26-yard touchdown pass from Roderick Suiters to Jordan Womack.
The Bulldogs opened the scoring in the third quarter with a 20-yard field goal from Rigoberto Martinez to make it a 24-7 lead. Hearne answered with a 70-yard touchdown pass to make the score 24-13 after a missed extra point.
Marlin answered right back with a 28-yard touchdown run by Wright to go ahead 31-13, which was the score going into the third quarter. The Bulldogs sealed the game in the fourth quarter with a safety to extend their lead to 33-13, which would be the final score.
Roderick Suiters had a fantastic game, throwing for 170 yards and two touchdowns, along with rushing for 21 yards. Caden Judie was unstoppable, catching three passes for 61 yards. Jordan Womack was also very impactful, catching two passes for 56 yards and a touchdown. De’angelo Wright was unstoppable, rushing for 134 yards and two touchdowns.
With this victory, the Bulldogs have a record of 2-2.
Next up for Marlin will be a neutral site game against the West Trojans. The game will be on Friday, Sept. 27, at Waco ISD Stadium and kick off is set for 7:30 p.m.
