Jones competes at Texas Relays
Marlin High Senior, Praiyer Jones, competed in the 95th Texas Relays at the University of Texas on Friday, April 1. The Texas Relays is the second largest track & field competition in the USA. Competing against some of the Best High School Shot Putters in the NATION, Praiyer placed 5th with a throw of 61 ft 7 in. The winning thrower was from Mississippi with a throw of 62 ft 8.5 in. Praiyer shared that competing with such strong competitors “was a huge confidence booster” and now he is ready to focus on the District Meet with the hopes of qualifying for state in May. While at the Texas Relays, Praiyer also got a chance to meet one of his throwing role models, Ryan Crouser—USA 2x Olympic Gold Medalist and current World Record Holder.
