Lady Pirates focused on Oglesby rematch
The Chilton Lady Pirates are focusing all of the attention and efforts this week on district rematches against Bremond and Oglesby.
Earlier this month Chilton played both of the teams, the competition was fierce but the Pirates managed to prevail in both games. They will be looking for the same outcomes this time around, though the environments will different as this time Chilton will be the visiting team.
Though they are the away team they will carry over momentum with them from their last game on Friday, September 22 in which the Lady Pirates defeated Harmony Science in three matches by scores of 25-20, 25-10 and 26-24.
The first two matches went pretty easily for the Pirates; it was however the final match where things got very interesting.
In that final match it seemed as if the Pirates struggled just a bit, possibly from a little fatigue.
There were several moments in which both teams made comebacks after being behind by a few points to tie it back up.
But Chilton did what they always manage do, the dug very deep and kept on making plays.
Which is precisely what they will need to do to accomplish a clean sweep of Bremond and Ogelsby this week.
Coach Smith already has her team preparing and working hard on the little things that have led to many mistakes.
“As we get ready to head into round two of district play, my main focus for my athletes will be doing the little things right.
Many times, we have been beaten because we gave up those small plays…we have to get it right this time around. I always talk a lot about out energy as a team, our chemistry has to be in synch with each other because we play our best game, when the whole team is playing as one…we have to stay unified!” is what Coach Smith of the Pirates had to say.
